Must Buy Items from Cape Town
SOUTH AFRICA
5/8/20242 min read

Hi, this is Sally. Last year, I visited South Africa, Cape Town.
As you can see, I am the type of person obsessed with souvenirs
Let’s go over my shopping list after visiting Woolworths and Pick n Pay 10 times in just five days!
There’s no way I’m missing out on famous local goodies!
Why do my photos include KitKat, muesli, honey, and other random things. Because these are expensive in Tanzania—so they’re gifts for myself! 😂😭 Oh, and I also got some milk!
Here’s a list I put together from various blogs before my trip. I didn’t buy everything since I wasn’t heading straight back to Korea, plus… budget issues 😭
Shopping List
✔️ Rooibos Tea
✔️ Bar One Chocolate
✔️ Ricoffy
✔️ Whispers Chocolate
✔️ Ingram’s Lotion
✔️ LUSH Products
✔️ Lunch Bar
✔️ Amarula Chocolate & Liquor
✔️ Rusk
✔️ Sally’s Nougat
✔️ Biltong (Cannot bring to Korea)
✔️ 1701 Nougat
Where to Buy These?
According to Google, Pick n Pay is generally cheaper than Woolworths!
(Not an ad—just my personal experience!)
1. Rooibos Tea
I’m not a big tea drinker (except for black milk tea), but I bought this to share with my family!
Did you know Rooibos is native to South Africa?
2. LUSH Store (Waterfront)
You can get the Dirty Body Spray for around $23 (₩30,000)—almost half the price in Korea!
If you need it, definitely grab one!
3. Ingram’s Lotion
A well-known South African skincare product that helps with moisture and skin repair!
4. Nougat
I wanted to buy the high-end, handcrafted 1701 nougat since it came highly recommended…
But I couldn’t find it anywhere—not at Woolworths, not at Pick n Pay!
I finally spotted it at the airport at a crazy high price—so I skipped it.
If you can’t find it, Sally’s Nougat is a great alternative!
5. Ricoffy
Korea has plenty of coffee, but this one is smooth and less intense!
Perfect for those who are sensitive to caffeine.
It also makes a great gift for friends!
6. Amarula Chocolate & Liquor
What’s Amarula?
It’s a famous South African liqueur made from the Marula tree’s fruit!
This sweet and smooth drink is well-loved worldwide and is considered one of Cape Town’s signature specialties.
With its beautiful and unique packaging, it makes the perfect souvenir!
7. Rusk
A crispy South African traditional snack, best enjoyed with tea or coffee.
There are so many flavors—just grab the one that looks good to you at the supermarket!
8. Biltong
A South African dried meat snack with rich, savory flavors!
Similar to jerky but saltier and more heavily spiced.
🚨 Not allowed for import into Korea! But it’s a must-try while in South Africa!
9. Other Chocolates
Looks like Snickers, right?
Super affordable at less than $4 (₩5,000) per bag, making it an easy gift option!
10. Deluxe Coffee Works Beans
Truth Coffee is the most famous, but it's a bit pricey…
So instead, I went for this one, recommended by a local friend!
Only ₩7,000 ($5.50)—amazing aroma, not too acidic, and perfect for home brewing!
I chose the House Blend ☕
